I’ve been go-go-go since I arrived in South America a few weeks ago and finally had a day with no class to chill. Well, I actually ended up working, but it was nice to just sit down and spend time with my laptop today. I’m working remotely this summer as a research assistant at an NGO called the Political Database of the Americas that is part of my department, so I need to be sure to keep putting in my 10 hours per week.
Also, it’s getting cold in Chile at night and no one has heat here, so I’m in for a cold two months!

Side note: this has been one of the best weeks ever. Yesterday we visited the winery Concha y Toro, bought tickets to the Bolivia-Chile world cup qualifier soccer game for Wednesday, and today my roommate Steve made plans for us to go to a national park outside La Serena this weekend to see penguins!
